WHO WE ARE

St. Joseph School offers a learning environment from Three School through the completion of 8th grade. All grade levels have religious formation classes on regular bases. The students are involved in planning the weekly School Mass. Grades PreK through 8th have weekly PE classes, technology, and library classes They participate in community outreach projects throughout the year.

Three School program is for three year olds who are potty trained and are ready to enter into the first experience of school. It has the option of full days or half days along with three days a week or 5 days a week.

The PreK four year old program is a full time five days a week program. The day is filled with learning’s that are age appropriate. The development of social skills and woking at learning centers offers the child an opportunity for group experience for future learning. The students participate in many of the regular school time activities such as daily lunch, story time in the library, technology opportunities, and services projects.

Kindergarten is a full day five days a week program. It offers the students opportunities for individual and group learning. The kindergarten students participate in most of the ordinary school activities. The have PE, Music, technology and library time once a week.

Grades (1-4) put emphasis on the regular basic academic work in religion, reading, language arts, phonics and math. They also have a social studies, science, and music classes weekly.

Grade 5 continues on the foundation that has been nurtured in the elementary grades. At this level the students change classes and begin to have more than one teacher for their regular academic work. These grades have a strong emphasis on independent learning styles with an emphasis on the student have a lot of responsibility for their own learning. Taking notes, using resources, doing outside of class preparation, and personal study skills are encouraged.

Grades 6-8 are the junior high levels. This level encourages the student to strengthen their methods of learning that has been taught in the previous years. Besides the basic academics the students have Spanish, Art, and Music. PE and technology, and library are offered weekly. They have opportunities to participate in a more active way in learning contests such a spelling, speech, science fair, writing, and many others.

Common factors for all grade levels in a nutshell:

  • Religion a four to five day a week
  • Physical Education Fitness twice a week
  • Library Time
  • Technology classes-computer lab
  • Hot lunch program offered
  • Extended Care offered (before and after school)
  • Resource assistance in the Gallery offered
  • Semester of Art with an instructor for grades 6-8
  • Semester of Spanish in grades 6-8
