STUDENTS
St. Joseph School offers a learning environment for students in Pre-K through the completion of 8th grade. All grade levels have religious formation classes on a regular bases. The students are involved in planning the weekly School Mass.Grades PreK through 8th have weekly PE classes, technology, and library classes They also participate in community outreach projects throughout the year.
The PreK four year old program is a full time five days a week program. The day is filled with lessons that are age appropriate. The development of social skills and working at learning centers offers the child an opportunity for group experience for future learning. The students participate in many of the regular school time activities such as daily lunch, story time in the library, technology opportunities, and services projects.
Kindergarten is a full day five days a week program. It offers the students opportunities for individual and group learning. The kindergarten students participate in most of the ordinary school activities. They have PE, Music, technology and library time once a week.
Grades (1-4) focuses on basic academic work in religion, reading, language arts, phonics and math. They also have a social studies, science, and music classes weekly.
Grade 5 continues on the foundation that has been nurtured in the elementary grades. At this level the students change classes and begin to have more than one teacher for their regular academic work. These grades have a strong emphasis on independent learning styles, while teaching the student to take responsibility for their own learning. Taking notes, using resources, doing outside of class preparation, and personal study skills are encouraged.
Grades 6-8 are the junior high levels. This level encourages the student to strengthen their methods of learning that have been taught in the previous years. Besides the basic academics the students have Art and Music. Physical Education, technology, and library are offered weekly. Teachers provide students opportunities to participate in a more active way through learning contests such as spelling, speech, science fair, writing, and many others.
